Tynwald Parliament, located in the Isle of Man, proudly boasts its title as the oldest continuous parliamentary assembly in the world, with a rich tradition spanning over 1,000 years. Initially formed in Celtic and later Viking times, Tynwald's primary purpose was to facilitate community governance, manage succession, and resolve disputes rather than merely passing laws. \n\nToday, Tynwald operates through two distinct branches: the Legislative Council (formerly the Lord’s Council) and the House of Keys. While they often convene separately, they unite as Tynwald Court to deliberate on policy and financial matters. Visitors to the Legislative Buildings are warmly welcomed, with opportunities to observe parliamentary sessions, partake in guided tours, or engage with Members of Parliament. \n\nThe public can also explore the gift shop, open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. Free public tours are available every Monday at 2pm and every Friday at 10am. For more information about visiting and available facilities, please reach out to the Tynwald Administration Office at +44 (0)1624 685500.
